Balancing Green Smoothie Bowl

Smoothie’s smoothie’s everywhere! Everyone’s making them, teaching them, eating them so I had to try it out for a while to see what all the hype was about. I’ve always been more into juicing my greens rather than blending them so when my sister showed me her Nutribullet and made me my first green smoothie, I was pretty interested.

Now, if any of you are like me, I am not able to stomach a smoothie without some kind of sweetness involved, I guess I’m just not tough enough to be having just blended raw greens with water, and for those of you who can, good for you cause I believe that is the best way to have a green smoothie. But me, I need a touch of sweetness to make it palatable. So I’ve been experimenting for the past few months with different combinations but also on how it effected my energy levels, emotional state and general health and well being.

At first I was adding my regular handful of dates, fruit, along with my greens but what I noticed after a few days was I started to feel more tired and zapped in energy instead of the promised rush of energy that I’ve read everywhere and that I get with a Green Vegetable Juice.

So I’m happy with this combination! And I hope you will be to. It will nourish us not only by looking healthy but on a deep long lasting energetic level too.


(Serves 2)

  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 70g Leafy Greens (Kale, Chard, Cabbage)
  • 2 Tbls Cooked Brown Rice
  • 1 Tbls Amasake (Rice, Millet or Oat)
  • 1 Tsp Spirulina Powder
  • 1 Tsp Wheatgrass Powder
  • 1 Tsp Almond Butter
  • 1 Tsp Rice Syrup
  • 235ml Water
  • Almond or Rice Milk to fill to the top


– Blend all together until creamy
– Put into a bowl and add whatever toppings you love on the top, but beware of too much dried fruits!
