Winter Elixir – Warm Beetroot, Green Apple & Ginger Juice

This beautiful Winter Ellixir Warm Juice is such a healing tonic for when you are feeling a little under the weather.  It is both revitalising and comforting all at the same time.  And when you look at it it even looks so magical, like you are drinking a potion of some sort and that is exactly what it is.

Beetroots are very much in season right now in the UK and are being sold in abundance at our local farmers market. So beautiful in their deep pink, golden and orange colours with their vibrant green and purple leaves. I find them an utterly stunning vegetable with such an unbelievable amount of natural sweetness. They are full of iron and folic acid and naturally fight off inflammation from the body and can also lower our blood pressure. They are full of antioxidants and are both cleansing and nourishing both at the same time.

All in all a pretty fantastic veg to have in a winter juice.

Warming the juice at the end is key here for it to be as nourishing and comforting as I need it to be during winter time but it is really important that you do not let it boil as you will instantly begin killing off a lot of the goodness. So take it to just warm, it doesn’t need to be very hot at all.

INGREDIENTS
(Serves 2 Juices)

  • 2 Organic Red Beetroot
  • 2 Organic Green Apple
  • 1 Organic Large Carrot
  • 1 x 2 inch piece of Ginger

Method:

– Make sure you wash off any mud from the vegetables but once that is off as they are organic they don’t need to be peeled.
– Just put them all through the juicer
– Once juiced pour all the juice into a saucepan and start warming it on a low heat.  Remember take it off as soon as it is warm and not boiling or too hot.
– Now sip away!
